What happens when I don't blog?

My last post was 7 days ago! I cannot believe it. I have to say the down time from the computer has been nice. I woke up this morning thinking of all the things I did with the time I wasn't blogging. It's not monumental, but I think there's s few things that wouldn't have gotten done otherwise.

First of all, we started school after a long winter break. This isn't making the list because I always do this. But we took a light approach to getting back into the swing of things, and I'm pleased with our week!

Without further ado...

1. Cleaned out and organized my garage. This was a chore! Now I have bins organized and labeled, and it doesn't stress me out when I walk out there to put in a load of laundry.

2. Read my first book of 2011! I read the last page of Mockingjay last night. For anyone who doesn't know, it's the last book of the Hunger Game Series, by Suzanne Collins. Awesome books! Weird, but interesting. The first two were page turners. I had to fight with the third one. It dragged a little for me, but the last chapters made it all worth it.

3. Spent more time in prayer and reading my Bible. I found myself doing the right thing more. I like to read blogs in the morning with my coffee. But, as I stepped back this past week, I found I had coffee with God. It's so much better! I plan on scheduling posts more, and even monitoring my time spent online a little.

4. I had time to reflect and think. Through my God time I had time to reflect and think about the new year. This year I am reclaiming my Joy! I have resolved to live purposely with joy! Instead of focusing on the obstacles, I am considering them pure joy. I will make an effort to simply be more joy-filled. For my family. for myself. Allow myself to get silly, crack jokes more. Smile more. Life is short.

5. I journaled a handful of blog post ideas. Even though I haven't posted, I have still wanted to! So now I can schedule those posts throughout the next week, and feel more organized in the blogosphere.

6. Meal planning! I stink at meal planning and cooking for the family. I can cook. I enjoy cooking, but I struggle with the weekly meals that everyone can enjoy. I'm not sure if everyone will enjoy the meals (haha) I planned, but at least I planned them!

I'm feeling good! What have you been up to this week? Have you been feeling the need to step back, and reevaluate? Isn't it just natural at this time of year?

Wishing all of you the blessings you can stand and more in 2011!

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
~James 1:2-4

I like this post. I didn't really choose to step back from my blog, it just kind of happened through the holidays. But it gave me time to reevaluate my time spent blogging and it's been nice. I was beginning to become overwhelmed with posting and trying to keep up, but that was not my intent when I started blogging.
It is nice to have a fresh start on a new year.

I actually made a resolution to blog kind of got in the way and it's pretty therapeutic, I need the outlet. I felt very disconnected when I wasn't blogging & reading other blogs. If you're done organizing you, you can come to my house...LOL!!!

I think it's so great that you took time out to reflect as well as dwell on the things you listed. Good for YOU!

I think a lot of us were absent, at least somewhat, from the blogosphere over the holidays. I got back into it full force this week.
I'm impressed with all that you got done!
I spent a lot of time conversing with God but don't do such a great job at Bible reading. I need to make that more of a priority.

I won't give up blogging, but I, too, am more productive when I don't. My parents were here for the New Year and since my blog is anonymous, I couldn't get on in the mornings like usual... the dishwasher was emptied, the laundry folded and the dish drain empty... amazing!!!

But my garage... oh my garage is giving me nightmares!

Great post. Only stepped back last two days. Just felt the need to regroup before continuing on the current journey. So took a break other then briefly each day from posting anywhere. I missed it though.

Wow, you were busy!

I thought the same as you about Mockingjay. Not quite as quick of a read, but a perfect ending to the series.

Great list of accomplishments! I've been blogging less and enjoying God time more lately too. It's refreshing. :)

I’m glad you had such an excellent week of doing, and reflection and “away from the computer” time. And I’m thinking about the “joy thing”. I hope I’m not overstepping her – can I share a little about “joy?

James 1:1 says we should consider it “all joy” – not that the trials are to be considered as “joy” but that the joy we should meet them with is a particular kind of “joy” – “all joy” - or “pure joy” it’s this kind of joy:

perfect joy,

the kind of joy that is of God

beyond the moment of circumstance joy

the knowledge and feeling that the only God is in control – kind of joy

And the God in control of all, cares about my cares, kind of joy

not happy happy bluebirds singing joy

but definitely “bigger than the universe” joy

God Bless and Keep you and yours Adrienne – hope I didn’t get all over preachy on you. But this section of James you wrote at the bottom of the post – My first posts (on my Scripture blog - not my love blog)were about it – they are kinda special to me :)

Oh Adrienne, sometimes a little break is needed. I love blogging and I am so happy to keep up with all of the amazing bloggy friends I have made, but at times I think we all need a few days without the computer. I really did not have my computer for most of December because my laptop had some virus. My desktop takes hours to make one comment, so I really could not blog much. It was a stressful month any way and the time away was good. You used your time wisely. I hope you are doing well! Have a great night!
